In the past
two decades, the Indian market has been deluged by sexological
books. Everything you always wanted to know about sex, sex
life, sex and pleasure, sexx is not four letter words, all
sorts of titles. For making them credible, claim is made that
the works have been superscripted by some PhDs, MDs but are
they able in addressing the issue acutely? In the information
driven country, all sort of information is made available by
books, numerous websites etc. touching superficially queries
like best posture for a couple wanting long drawn sexual
intercourse, demeanor of a person to attract opposite sex,
mental diseases afflicted in people deprived of healthy sexual
pleasure. The chief drawback with these publications is that
they are based almost totally on physicality or touching
issues preternaturally with leaving besides mind, self,
spirit. Probable reason for unfruitfulness of it in Indian
swarm.
This
information turned knowledge is falling much short in
addressing Indian mind which is inheriting the standards set
by something like Vatsayana's Kamasutra, kok pandit’s
kokshastra or chaurapanchishika by bilhana or anangaranga.
Indian sexology addresses the issue of sexual intercourses
between man and woman from a holistic point of view. The
themes reflection can be seen in the statuettes of khajuraho
and konark temple, probably inspired by koka pandit’s
kokshastra which deals more with postural experimentation.
With unknown reason it’s much on the radar of bajrang dal or
rss.
Now-a day,
all current fast selling books are earning its profit pie
because person seeks such kind of books for titillation, even
they search Kamasutra by Vatsayana for the same reason and
remain in the same mind condition. So treatises like Kamasutra
is missed by most readers as Vatsayana deals with the subject
in the almost aloof manner in which he describes every
possible element related to sex, being on the height of super
consciousness.
Sex treated
as guptagyan in ancient and medieval times and Kamasutra was
used to be a part of curriculum for girls in their teens. But
now it has become a taboo. Matter related to sex is dealt with
two aspects: one is medical aspect and other literary
knowledge in nature. When one feels some problem physically in
excess, hesitatingly consultation with professional take
place. Making ignorance as bliss no one brings out small
issues on surface. If one sneezes once, says- perhaps I caught
cold and starts taking some primary precaution or medication
according to the situation. But in the case of sex everyone is
hiding or disregarding. Then second aspect, when one wants to
gather and acquire information.
From the
point of view of Indian philosopher; from the starting of
intercourse an attempt is made to reach a higher level of
spiritual reality through sexual unity between a man and a
woman. The crux; it concerns itself with realizing a bliss,
not just during intercourse, but attaining a more satiated and
contented gratification which contributes towards making a
person a better human being. The interfusion of the sexual and
spiritual- intellectual life had been impressed further in the
Tantra, where these philosophers have sought to use sex for
attaining power. It has been brought in the light by such
extra ordinary people that family life and self esteem is
governed by sexual miseries. And the reason behind these
miseries is that one moved only by outward looks and seeks
sensation only. In our surrounding men and women get ensnared
in relationship which fails quite often, reason for this
uncareful approach in finding out beforehand whether they are
sexually- intellectually compatible.
Bending
ourselves in seclusion, with reading shoal books and trying to
convert these sexual mores for alignment to our culture will
not of much help. When on the walls of temple, which is
standing high embodying our candid heritage, such education is
available then why to hide behind closets. Make holistic
approach and clean attitude towards sex and make life happy
and lighter.
